Portofino is located on the Ligurian coast of Italy, a small fishing village near the city of Genoa; pleasant scenery, near the natural harbor and red and terracotta small house. In 1984 IWC launched the 5251 "pocket-style watch" and named it after Portofino. The timeless and elegant Portofino watch therefore reflects this Mediterranean life style, temperament and elegant taste.

The layout of this Portofino Hand-Wound Monopusher is very balance, 3 o'clock position is the date, 9 o'clock is the 192 hours or eight-day power reserve display, small seconds is at 6 o'clock, and 12 o'clock position is the 60 minutes chronograph display. Platinum or red gold case both with Santoni alligator strap. Timing button is on the crown, simply press the multifunction button it will be able to start, stop the timing function and reset to zero.

When Montrez saw this watch for the first time, we found the crown seems a little long, but by looking at it closer, it actually because it equipped with timing function, and unlike other chronograph watches which feature chronograph buttons at 2:00 and 4:00 position, this button is actually placed on the watch crown, designed as a single-button chronograph. Pressing it once will start the timing, pressing it the second time will stop, pressing it one more time will reset the chronograph to zero. This definitely is in line with the simple elegant style of the series, simple but not ordinary.
